PASTRUM is founded by Prof. Kin H Chan, who is passionate about the development of management capability of companies in the Greater China Region (GCR) of China, Taiwan and Hong Kong. In particular, we believe that the effective cultivation and enrichment of Intellectual Capital should be the top priority for business leaders and executives.   

PASTRUM serves as a platform for executives to advance their level of managerial competence and introduce the best international industry practices to their companies. Publications, management consulting, seminars, themed events, face to face exchanges of tacit management know-how and experience are just some of means for us to achieve these goals.

Prof. Chan received a Doctor of Business Administration from University of Newcastle, Australia, and a Master of Laws at the University of Hong Kong. He earned his MBA from University of South Australia and holds a Master of Science in Computer Data Processing and Bachelor of Engineering from University of Ulster, Northern Ireland, UK. He is Certified Professional Economist and Fellow of Hong Kong Society of Economists; Chartered Wealth Manager and Fellow of International Academy of Financial Management; an Accredited Mediator of Hong Kong Mediation Centre, and Member of the Institution of Analysts and Programmers, UK.  

Dr Chan was the Corporate VP and Managing Director of DTS Inc. USA, which is a world’s leading intellectual property based company specialized in entertainment and audio technology. He also served as CEO of a world-renowned company in business technology optimization, and was previously CEO of a PRC network security technology company. In the 1990’s, Dr. Chan was actively involved in introducing Linux operating system into China and had brought the start-up company to IPO in the main board of NASDAQ-NM, USA. Furthermore, he had also taken part in many business ventures as well as major IT infrastructure building projects in Hong Kong and UK including information systems of the Euro Tunnel, Hong Kong Immigration Department and, Kowloon and Canton Railway. 

Dr. Chan was an academic award winner in artificial intelligence (AI) research, and is a management scholar with strong interests in intellectual capital (IC) and knowledge management with publications in Journal of Intellectual Capital and The Learning Organization. His latest research is in KM and IC at the University of Hong Kong. He speaks regularly in China on relationships marketing and strategic management of companies including those which are in the hi-tech and intellectual property related industries.
